We are excited to announce the launch of the UAE Legal Research Competition, focusing on UAE legal subject matter. This competition is proudly launched by Habib Al Mullah Academy and LexisNexis Middle East in collaboration with Université St Joseph Dubai. 

The legal research competition is open to law students (fourth year or master’s) enrolled in law faculties in the United Arab Emirates.

Participation can be individual or as part of a research team with no more than three (3) members.
The first (20) contestants who register for the competition according to the conditions and mechanisms outlined below will be accepted.

Last Date to Register: 11 March 2025

Competition Topic: The submitted legal research must adhere to the following:

• Research topics should be related to the laws of the United Arab Emirates.
• Research topics should focus on legislative developments and legal systems in the UAE, highlighting prominent contemporary issues and judgments issued by UAE courts.
• The contestant (individual or team) is free to choose the legal research topic, considering the suggested titles for guidance, attached below:

1. 1. The evolution of cybercrime laws in the UAE (A study of recent legislation related to combating cybercrime and data protection in the UAE, and its impact on companies and individuals).
   2. The role of intellectual property law in promoting innovation within the UAE (Research on how intellectual property protection laws can support a knowledge-based economy and foster local innovation).
   3. Laws related to sustainability and the environment in the UAE (A study on environmental legislation in the UAE, including clean energy and sustainability laws and their role in supporting the UAE Vision 2050).
   4. Commercial arbitration and its role in dispute resolution in the UAE (Research on the arbitration system in the UAE and its role in attracting investors and effectively resolving commercial disputes).
   5. Labor and employment laws in the UAE post-COVID-19 pandemic (An analysis of the amendments to labor laws and measures to protect workers’ rights in light of the changes imposed by the pandemic).
   6. New financial and regulatory legislation related to digital currencies in the UAE (A study on how digital currencies and blockchain technology are regulated in the UAE, and their impact on the financial system).
   7. The role of laws in protecting foreign investments in the UAE (A study on legislation that enhances the investment environment and protects the rights of foreign investors, especially in free zones).
   8. The legal framework for combating money laundering and terrorist financing in the UAE (Research on anti-money laundering laws and compliance with international standards in this regard, and the UAE’s role in combating illicit financing).
   9. Protection of human rights in the UAE legal system (A study on laws related to the protection of human rights, focusing on the rights of expatriate workers and women’s rights).

Please register below and submit your entries along with a general summary of the topic (not exceeding 500 words), explaining the research idea and objectives on content.mena@lexisnexis.com.

As a reminder, the research must be submitted in the Arabic language and not exceed 10 pages.

Deadlines for submitting your research paper is 30 April 2025.

يسعدنا أن نعلن عن إطلاق مسابقة البحث القانوني في الإمارات العربية المتحدة، من قبل أكاديمية حبيب الملا وLexisNexis بالتعاون مع جامعة القديس يوسف في دبي، تتضمّن جوائز (مالية وغير مالية) للفائزين.

تهدف هذه المسابقة إلى تحفيز طلاب كليات القانون على البحث القانوني المعمّق وتعزيز الفكر النقدي في المسائل القانونية المعاصرة وتنشئة جيل من القانونيين على سدّ الثغرات في التشريعات الإماراتية ونشر المعرفة القانونية وإثراء الفكر القانوني.

أهلية الاشتراك في المسابقة:

المسابقة مفتوحة أمام طلاب القانون (السنة الرابعة أو الماجستير) المسجلين في كليات القانون في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. –

يمكن المشاركة بشكل فردي أو كجزء من فريق بحث لا يزيد عن ثلاثة (3) أعضاء. –

سيتم قبول أول (20) متسابقًا يسجلون في المسابقة وفقًا للشروط والآليات الموضحة أدناه. –

 

معايير البحث:

أن يكون مرتبطًا بقوانين دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. –

أن يشدّد على أهمية التطورات التشريعية والأنظمة القانونية في دولة الإمارات، مع تسليط الضوء على القضايا والأحكام البارزة الصادرة عن المحاكم الإماراتية. –

للفرد حرّية اختيار موضوع البحث شرط مراعاة العناوين المذكورة أدناه على سبيل الإرشاد:

تطور قوانين الجرائم الإلكترونية في الإمارات (دراسة للتشريعات الحديثة المتعلقة بمكافحة الجرائم الإلكترونية وحماية البيانات في الإمارات وتأثيرها على الشركات والأفراد). 

تطور قوانين الجرائم الإلكترونية في الإمارات (دراسة للتشريعات الحديثة المتعلقة بمكافحة الجرائم الإلكترونية وحماية البيانات في الإمارات وتأثيرها على الشركات والأفراد). 

ور قانون الملكية الفكرية في تعزيز الابتكار داخل الإمارات (بحث حول كيفية دعم قوانين حماية الملكية الفكرية لاقتصاد قائم على المعرفة وتعزيز الابتكار المحلي). 

القوانين المتعلقة بالاستدامة والبيئة في الإمارات (دراسة عن التشريعات البيئية في الإمارات، بما في ذلك قوانين الطاقة النظيفة والاستدامة ودورها في دعم رؤية الإمارات 2050). 

التحكيم التجاري ودوره في حل النزاعات في الإمارات (بحث حول نظام التحكيم في الإمارات ودوره في جذب المستثمرين وحل النزاعات التجارية بفعالية). 

قوانين العمل والتوظيف في الإمارات بعد جائحة كوفيد-19 (تحليل للتعديلات على قوانين العمل والإجراءات لحماية حقوق العمال في ضوء التغيرات التي فرضتها الجائحة). 

التشريعات المالية والتنظيمية الجديدة المتعلقة بالعملات الرقمية في الإمارات (دراسة حول كيفية تنظيم العملات الرقمية وتقنية البلوكشين في الإمارات وتأثيرها على النظام المالي).  

دور القوانين في حماية الاستثمارات الأجنبية في الإمارات (دراسة عن التشريعات التي تعزز بيئة الاستثمار وتحمي حقوق المستثمرين الأجانب، خاصة في المناطق الحرة). 

الإطار القانوني لمكافحة غسل الأموال وتمويل الإرهاب في الإمارات (بحث حول قوانين مكافحة غسل الأموال والامتثال للمعايير الدولية في هذا الصدد، ودور الإمارات في مكافحة التمويل غير المشروع). 

حماية حقوق الإنسان في النظام القانوني الإماراتي (دراسة عن القوانين المتعلقة بحماية حقوق الإنسان، مع التركيز على حقوق العمالة الوافدة وحقوق المرأة). 

ألا يتجاوز البحث المقدّم العشر (10) صفحات.  —

تقديم البحث بصيغة “word” و”PDF” على البريد الإلكتروني المذكور أدناه وضمن المواعيد المحددة. 

ألا تُستخدم أدوات الذكاء الاصطناعي في كتابة البحث. 

أن تكون لغة البحث هي العربية الفصحى. 
