English arbitration law’s most significant reform since 1996
The long-awaited English Arbitration Act 2025 is the first major change to English arbitration law since the Arbitration Act 1996, the foundation of English-seated arbitrations. New features include a statutory rule for the law governing the arbitration agreement; a new procedure to challenge awards; clarification on jurisdiction challenges; an express power for the summary disposal of disputes; and the use of emergency arbitrators.
Thomas R. Snider and Peter Smith (Charles Russell Speechlys LLP) will explain the main developments in the 2025 Act and their relevance to lawyers and non-lawyers alike in the DIFC and UAE.
